Overview

Counter-Strike 2 is the current chapter of a tactical team shooter that began as a community modification in 1999. Developed by Valve in the United States, it has an especially deep following in Europe, where many of the competitive scene's best-known teams and tournaments are based.

01

The Game

Two teams of five, one bomb, and a round that can be lost to a single mistake. Counter-Strike has barely changed its core idea in a quarter of a century, and that consistency is precisely its appeal. Counter-Strike 2 rebuilt the game on a new engine while keeping the familiar maps and rhythms.

02

Gameplay

Rounds are short and economical: players buy equipment with money earned from previous rounds, then coordinate to plant or defuse a bomb. Precision, map knowledge and communication matter far more than reflexes alone. It is easy to learn the rules and slow to master the details.

03

Multiplayer

Counter-Strike 2 is an online multiplayer game first and foremost, with ranked matchmaking, casual modes and community servers. It contains optional cosmetic purchases, including paid random items; parents should review the in-game store and platform spending controls.
